Casa Studio Announces its 5th Annual Portrait Project to benefit children in need this holiday season

Community-conscious photography pop-up Casa Studio is excited to announce its launch of the 5th annual Portrait Project to help purchase gifts for children in need this holiday season.

Founded by kid’s commercial photographer Priscilla Gragg, the event turns profits into holiday wishes. Last year, Gragg and her team of volunteers delivered some 300 toys to Family House, a home away for families whose children are being treated for long term and life-threatening diseases at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, Calif. The group also raised enough money to fulfill specific wish lists of 10 young patients and their siblings. More than 1,000 toys have been donated to families and non-profit organizations over the last four years including foster youth, Tiyya Foundation, Alameda County Health Start Initiative and the Contra Costa County Black Infant Health Program.

This year, Casa Studio is asking Instagram followers to share organizations that they’re passionate about, says Gragg. “For each of our annual events we pick a different organization to contribute toy donations,” says Gragg. “There are so many foundations doing such beautiful work out there, it truly is hard to select only one. So, this year we decided to invite our followers to chime in and introduce us to an organization they feel connected with. We love that kind of collaboration.”

Parents and caregivers can purchase 30-minute slots per child for $195. This year due to COVID-19, Gragg and her team will provide hair and wardrobe consultations via Zoom so that kids can arrive on set camera ready. Families will not overlap, and areas will be sanitized between each shoot. While the location has great air circulation, adults and children on set will be required to wears masks unless they are being actively photographed. More details on COVID-19 measures can be found here.

Limited sessions will go one sale on mid-September and typically sell out quickly. Dates will be announced to Portrait Project subscribers first, followed by announcements Casa Studio’s website and its social media channels. Shoots will take place in Danville, Calif. in October.
